WORKS ON PAPER

Drawing and works on paper are an important part of my daily practice. Two dimensional diagrams, explorations of shadows, gradients and (re)tracing are often a place where concepts are enlivened, tested and refined.

My background in architecture has meant that lines, grids and perspective drawings have been omnipresent. With that training and drafting practice deeply embedding in my psyche I find that these modalities are something i return to and also attempt to push beyond. I'm interested in positive and negative space, overlays and transparency in drawing and attempt to locate dissolved edges and plays in both high and subtle contrast.

In many of my works on paper I am exploring how drawing can be expanded or how sculpture can be compressed, searching for moments of slippage between disciplines, searching for modes of expression that broaden the scope of my practice.
